Holy Spirit Power

Sep 15, 2024    Jon Welch

Dear Leesburg Christian Church Family,

I hope you left yesterday different than when you came. It was a blessing to gather together and dive into Jesus' words from John 14:15, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." We explored the profound connection between our love for Jesus and our obedience to His commands. We also discussed the incredible gift of the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live out this obedience.

Here are a few highlights from the sermon:

- Jesus' call to obedience is not about perfection but about a sincere commitment to follow Him.

- The Holy Spirit is our advocate, guiding us in truth and empowering us to live in alignment with God's will.

- Our relationship with Jesus transforms us, aligning our desires with God's desires.

Take some time this week to consider these questions:

In what areas of your life do you find it challenging to obey Jesus' commands?

How can you rely more on the Holy Spirit for guidance and strength in your daily walk?

What steps can you take this week to ensure that Jesus is truly the Lord of your life?

Our memory verse for this week is John 14:15:

"If you love me, you will keep my commandments." Let this verse remind you daily of the connection between love and obedience.

Application Challenge:

This week, I challenge you to spend intentional time in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal areas in your life where you need to grow in obedience. Write down what you sense the Spirit is saying and take one concrete step to align your actions with Jesus' teachings.

Remember, you are not alone in this journey. The same resources that were available to Jesus—prayer, the Holy Spirit, and the Word of God—are available to you. Let's walk in the Spirit and support one another as we strive to live out our faith.

Blessings,

Jon Welch
