A New Way To See

Dear Church Family,

I hope you left yesterday different than when you came. It was a joy to gather together and delve into John 12, exploring the extravagant gift that Mary gave to Jesus and the immense value she placed on Him. We reflected on how Mary's actions contrasted with Judas's and how her sacrifice filled the house with the fragrance of her devotion.

As we pondered this beautiful act of worship, we were reminded that our own lives should be filled with the fragrance of Christ's love and sacrifice. Here are a few highlights from the sermon:

Mary's Extravagant Gift: Mary poured out a costly ointment on Jesus' feet, symbolizing her deep love and reverence for Him.

Judas's Reaction: Judas saw this act as a waste, revealing his lack of understanding of Jesus' true worth.

The Result: Many came to believe in Jesus because of the testimony of Lazarus, who was raised from the dead.

I encourage you to reflect on these questions this week:

What are you willing to sacrifice to show your love and devotion to Jesus?

How can you ensure that your actions reflect the value you place on your relationship with Christ?

In what ways can your life be a living testimony that draws others to Jesus?

Our memory verse for this week is John 12:3 (ESV):

"Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume."

Application Challenge: This week, find a way to show extravagant love to someone in your life. It could be through a kind act, a generous gift, or simply spending quality time with them. Let your actions be a reflection of the love and value you place on your relationship with Jesus.

Thank you for being a part of our church family and for your continued faithfulness. Let's continue to fill our lives and our community with the fragrance of Christ's love.
